The Incredible Journey of the Transpac Wing Project – Making Waves for Conservation and Teamwork

Environment, Inspiration

The Story of the Transpac Wing Project
The Transpac Wing Project, spanning from February to July 2022, was a groundbreaking endeavor where Chris Bertish set two world records by becoming the first person to wing foil across any ocean. This expedition was a solo crossing of the Pacific, 2550 miles from California to Hawaii, wing-foiling 12 hours a day nonstop for 60 days…
This incredible journey raised almost $10,000 for charity, reaching a global audience with over $5 million in reach and 2.2 million impressions.

Where Donations Make a Difference
Funds raised from the project support various vital conservation efforts. Contributions to Conservation International aid in community-based coral restoration in Hawaii, while donations to Sea Shepherd bolster conservation efforts to protect marine animals and prevent illegal fishing and plastic pollution. The Chris Bertish Foundation allocates funds to Parley Ocean School, the Two Oceans Aquarium Education Foundation, and the SeaTrees Initiative, among other noble causes.
Giveback and Education
The project highlights crucial climate change issues and supports the Ocean Unite’s 30×30 strategy to protect 30% of the Earth’s land and water resources by 2030. It aims to inspire belief in the possibility of change, focusing on education, environmental protection, and supporting disadvantaged communities.

The Power of Teamwork and the Impact of the Transpac Wing Project
As the old adage goes, “No man is an island,” and this couldn’t ring truer for the incredible feats accomplished by the Transpac Wing Project. Spearheaded by the indomitable spirit of Chris Bertish, this project is a testament to the wonders that can be achieved through collective effort and unwavering dedication. It’s about understanding that every small contribution matters, and when these are combined, they create something truly magnificent.

Celebrating a Team That Makes Dreams Possible
Behind every successful venture lies a team of unsung heroes, and the Transpac Wing Project is no exception. Chris Bertish extends his heartfelt gratitude to the amazing team whose combined efforts made this project a resounding success. From Erin Newsom’s impeccable project coordination to Quin O’Hara’s vivid photography and videography, every team member played a crucial role. Acknowledgements extend to advisors, weather and safety leads, video editors, communications strategists, and partners who provided unwavering support.
The Chris Bertish Foundation also extends a special thanks to the conservation partners and key sponsors, without whom this journey would not have been possible. They truly embody the philosophy that if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you aim to go far and leave a lasting impact, you need a great team.

The Transpac Wing Project is more than a record-setting journey; it is a beacon of hope and a call to action. It showcases the power of dreams backed by a dedicated team and the impact collective efforts can have on our planet.

Together, we can create waves of change.
